Ecoles de la Terre in Geneva

Ecoles de la Terre Association was established in Geneva on August 18th 1998. The first article of their Statutes states “under the name Ecoles de la Terre, an Association has been established under articles 60 and following of the Swiss Civil Code, with headquarters at the residence of the presidency.”

In the second article, the statute stipulates that “the Association’s goal is to promote and practically help any institution which accepts, provides schooling and takes in charge, in schools and homes, the disadvantaged children of our world. This help can either take the form of financial contributions, or of materials.”

In the third article it is specified that “the Association is neutral, both concerning politics and religion. The founding principles of the Association are its voluntarity and the absence of running costs of the Association structure. Any member of the Association, particularly the leadership, is committed to faithfully and unconditionnally respect these principles.”

From an accounting point of view, it means that the totality of sponsorships and donations received is transferred to the different programmes of Ecoles de la Terre India, that is the schools, apprenticeship and health units. This aspect is important because travel costs to India and the running expenses of Ecoles de la Terre Geneva, including rent, office, infrastructure, and data processing, are not deducted from the revenues of sponsorships and donations.
